Charles Thomas Munger, renowned for his impact as a businessman, investor, and philanthropist, shared a significant chapter of his life with Nancy Huggins Munger.
In 1945, during his studies at Caltech, Charlie Munger entered into matrimony with Nancy Huggins. A Pasadena native, Nancy had a unique connection to the Munger family as she had been roommates with Charlie’s sister at Scripps College.
Their union marked the beginning of a love story that would not only withstand the test of time but also lay the foundation for a remarkable family. Together, Charlie and Nancy Munger raised three children: Wendy Munger, Molly Munger, and Teddy Munger.
Wendy Munger, a former corporate lawyer, has made her mark as a trustee of Stanford University and The Huntington Library. Molly Munger, a civil rights attorney, furthered her impact by funding a ballot initiative aimed at raising California taxes for public education. Tragically, the Munger family experienced the loss of Teddy Munger at the tender age of 9 due to leukemia.
While Charlie Munger’s public persona is often associated with his business acumen and philanthropy, Nancy Huggins Munger played a vital behind-the-scenes role. On July 22, 2002, Munger’s first wife Nancy Huggins Freeman died of cancer at age 76.
